Hafted spears
Projectile Technology, a symposium edited by Heidi Knecht (1997) covers the chronology and development of hafted weapons in detail. Non-hafted projectiles (throwing stones, hand axes etc.) are ignored. There is only doubtful evidence of hafted weapons before about 25,000 years ago and none before 100,000 years ago. How adequate would clubs and sharpened wooden spears have been? How did pre-sapiens bipeds defend themselves, let alone obtain meat?
