Hafted spears Projectile Technology, a symposium edited by Heidi Knecht (1997) covers the chronology and development of hafted weapons in detail. Non-hafted projectiles (throwing stones, hand axes etc.) are ignored. There is only doubtful evidence of hafted weapons before about 25,000 years ago and none before 100,000 years ago.
